Kolby Bird
Kolby was born and raised in San Diego and began playing volleyball in middle school. She comes from a volleyball family, with her parents and extended family being involved with the sport at high levels since the 80s. She graduated from Westview High School and completed eight years of playing at San Diego Volleyball Club. This then led her to continue pursuing her volleyball career at the Division 1 Level across the country at the University of Miami. She was an outside hitter and competed at Miami for four years. After graduating with her undergrad degree, she found her way back to Southern California in 2020. Kolby found a love for coaching beginning in high school and has continued coaching consistently since then for the past 8 years. She has coached at almost every level including high school, club, boys/girls, and little ones! She knows God led her back to the FCA ministry in 2020 as she had been greatly impacted by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes since her middle school years. She joined staff with FCA in 2021 as one of San Diego's volleyball reps, and now her and Megan have taken on the endeavor to begin this FCA Volleyball Club. They both know how great an impact sports ministry can make and how God can work through teams, coaches, and athletes. They are so excited to help provide an opportunity like this that is Christ centered and competitive for young athletes. She is also the head Varsity and JV coach at Maranatha Christian School.
Noelle Blankenship
Noelle Blankenship was born in Long Beach, California, and moved to Virginia at age 16. She grew up being coached by her dad, who shared the sport of volleyball with many athletes over the years through coaching sports days, clinics, and high school teams. Noelle has 5+ years of experience coaching girls club volleyball and enjoys teaching athletes to improve their skills. She has been on staff with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes since 2017, serving alongside coaches and athletes in Northern Virginia and now San Diego. From 2016-2018, Noelle served as FCA Character Coach to the volleyball program at Loudoun County High School, as they won State Title each year for Virginia Class 4 schools – an exciting adventure! Noelle enjoys playing outdoor grass and womens indoor. She recently moved to San Diego and is excited to be part of FCA Volleyball!
Megan Lawley
Megan was born in raised in Washington State where she fell in love with the game of volleyball. Megan played 2 years of college in Washington State before transferring down to California to finish her college volleyball career. Megan has been coaching all ages of volleyball since 2013 at Kent Junior Volleyball Club in Washington state and Coast Volleyball Club in San Diego. She has also coached at Santa Fe Christian Schools in Solana Beach since 2017 with 7-12thtgraders. Megan joined Fellowship of Christian Athletes staff in 2017 and started FCA Volleyball San Diego in 2020. Megan is passionate about competing & teaching the game of volleyball. But most importantly she is passionate about equipping girls to thrive as godly leaders in Christ.
Erika Brown
Erika played at Illini Elite Volleyball club for 8 years prior to setting for 4 years at the University of Southern Indiana. When Erika was 17, her team placed second in the national open championship and post-college, was blessed to coach the same team she placed second with in nationals. Erika has coached various age groups at Illini Elite and Normal community high school the last 5 years before to moving out west to California. Erika’s passion is to use volleyball and coaching as a vessel for young athletes to grow as champions of Christ - on and off the court.
Torrey McClure
Torrey is a two year letter winner at La Costa Canyon High School. While a junior, she was named MVP by the league coaches. Throughout high school she split her time between Wave and Coast volleyball club. She led her 2013 squad to a 10th place finish at the 17-under Open Division at Junior Nationals. Straight from high school she was recruited to play in the D1 SEC Conference at Mississippi State University as a Libero/ defensive specialist. Between digs, receptions and serving aces she finished her overall freshman collegiate stats at 94%. Torrey transferred to California State University, Fullerton her sophomore year to compete in the Division 1 Big West Conference to finish her volleyball career as a Titan. Finished the season with record high serving aces and 3rd in number of digs. Post collegiate career, she has coached a number of teams in Orange County, plays beach volleyball for fun and is a mom to her 2 year old son, Roman.
